We decided to track down the harinam party, which proved more difficult than we first thought.  They had strayed off into the street malls of Maastricht, nowhere to be seen or heard.  There was no speaker system so they were a little more faint then the usual rip-roaring street kirtanas.  Eventually we found them, also finding an empty book box (the distributors had claimed all the books!).  The devotees were all still super enthusiastic in their congregational kirtana.

HH Prahladananda Swami continued to maintain the harinam at the main mall until we all closed in.

Prahladananda Swami’s Vyasa Puja

Yesterday, Sarva Mangala Mataji and Tirthapada Prabhu celebrated the Vyasa Puja of their Guru Maharaja in the cozy settings of Srila Prabhupada’s room. The celebration started at 11.30am and many shared their appreciation of Maharaja, while others got to know a bit more about Prahladananda Swami’s amazing and uncompromosing personality. The Vyasa Puja ended at 1.30pm with a healthy and tasty feast. Here’s a slideshow.

Por 5 dias esteve presente um monge renunciado, um monge Sannyassi, de nome Prahladananda Swami. A sua presença irradiou um clima devocional e de sabedoria profunda, as maiores prendas que qualquer um pode desejar.

Prahladananda Swami é disípulo de Srila Prabhupada, iniciado em 1969, em Buffalo.
Entre os seus primeiros serviços está a abertura de vários templos nos EUA, expansão intensiva da consciência de Krsna no projecto do autocarro viajante Radha-Damodara.
Recebeu o título de sannyassi em 1982. É guru iniciador e também membro do corpo governativo da ISKCON. Encarrega-se da área da saúde e da selecção de candidaturas ao título de Sannyassi.

Aula de filosofia védica

Em Lisboa fez apresentações sobre vários aspectos da filosofia de bhakti. Manteve aulas diárias pela manhã, aconselhou os devotos na gerência de assuntos organizacionais elevou a consciência da festa de domingo para amigos e convidados.

Todos sentiram muito gosto na sua forte presença.

Bh. Susan took Hari-nama-diksa from Prahladananda Swami this morning. She is now Sarva-mangala Dasi. Devamrta Prabhu attended the yajna to complete his Mantra-diksa taken from Bhakti-tirtha Swami last year. More shots here.

Whew, after a few hours of mucking around I’ve just managed to fix up my web server and get the Ratha-yatra pictures on line. The deity shots aren’t the best either. The colour balance was out. I mucked up the white balance settings. You’ll get the general idea though. That line contains just over 200 devotees in all.

I’ve posted shots from the Ratha-yatra celebrations. Thanks to Arun Bilgi for the shots. If you’ve got some good pics of the event send me a half a dozen or so and I’ll post them to the site.

About 150 attended a well organised procession. Well organised means, we stopped and started on time. Lord Jagannatha was back on the altar with one minute to spare before the arati.

The feast was a big hit also. Thanks to Braja Basi and Acintya Rupa.

One of the reasons why I prefer not to advertise the Ratha-yatra festival widely is we already have a big turn out. If it got any bigger we would have to use the street for our procession. That would mean seeking council permits and having a lot more security than we do at present. As it is we take over the whole street for at least 50 metres at a stretch. Anything bigger than that and we might find the locals complaining.

I hear devotees talking of holding a bigger parade in the future. It’s a good idea but we will have to do a lot of homework and fund-raising to pull off a bigger event.
